I have nearly 20 years of experience in media production, with the last decade spent working for the German public service network ARD. My role has taken me to studios in Beijing, Singapore, Tokyo, New Delhi, and now London, where I primarily work as a video editor. Additionally, I have served as a supervisor, drone and camera operator, and troubleshooter.
My work has brought me to crisis areas such as Afghanistan, the Rohingya camps in Bangladesh, and the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. Beyond breaking news, I have worked on a variety of in-depth projects across Asia, including documentaries on the role of women in Japan and the environmental impact of plastic pollution in the Maldives.
I have also covered major international events like G7 summits and COP26. In addition to editing, I planned and organized the post-production workflow for multiple editors, ensuring everything ran smoothly under tight deadlines.
My productions range from breaking news to short- and long-form documentaries, as well as social media content across various platforms. Before joining ARD, I worked as a freelance video editor and camera operator in Berlin, mainly producing advertising and promotional films for industry clients.
I hold a diploma in Video Journalism and studied Film Montage at the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television in Babelsberg, where I honed my skills in storytelling, editing, and visual composition.
Beyond my work in media, I’m always up for a conversation about technology, aviation, data science, pop culture, music, TV shows, social issues, or politics. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to connect or collaborate!
Cheers,
Mathias
